I'm April

I am a licensed Spanish and ESL educator with over 13 years of experience teaching students from PreK through high school in public and charter schools across Chicagoland.  For the past six years, I have been working at a project-based high school, where I design engaging, real-world lessons that support language development and critical thinking.

I specialize in working with multilingual learners, including heritage speakers and newcomers and I am deeply committed to creating inclusive, supportive learning environments.  My background in ACTFL- and WIDA- aligned instruction allows me to meet learners where they are and help them grow with confidence.

In addition to teaching, I have extensive experience providing interpretation and translation for students, families, and organizations.  I understand the importance of clear communication and cultural awareness, and I bring that same care and professionalism to every client that I serve.

I hold an Illinois Professional Educator license in Spanish and ESL and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Spanish.

When I'm not engaged in linguistic pursuits, I can be found admiring cute dogs, napping, or passing time with friends and family.
